A
few weeks ago I was setting up for the Valley Forge
Gun Show when this tall skinny red headed guy walks
up to the table. He says “George?” And I
say “yeah”. He goes on to introduce himself
as Mike of Raven
Concealment.
I had never heard of them but acted polite of course.
We spoke for a while and then the crowd started coming
in. He had told me to stop by and look at their holsters.
I kind of shrugged it off. Seems everyone these days
thinks they can do kydex.
Over the weekend I spent more time talking to Mike about
a bunch of things that anyone reading this would find
interesting. When I left the show it was with a Raven
Concealment Belt Holster tossed in the Bag
of Evil. My thought was what the hell, I’ll
give it a shot.
Last weekend while helping out with a pistol course
I wore the Raven rig. The first thing that I noticed
was how well it fit against the body. I can only describe
it as wearing a wide ACE bandage around your waist and
sliding a gun in it. Mike tells me this is accomplished
by Raven using a pancake design instead of a fold over.
Something else I like is the fact that the holster features
a sweat guard on the inside of the holster normally
found on IWB to keep the entire inside of the gun separated
from your body. This sweat guard aides in reholstering
since when the muzzle hits the sweat guard that funnels
it into the holster.
After running the Raven rig through its paces during
the course I have decided it will replace my other Glock
19 belt holsters. Now I just have to wait for them to
come out with their IWB model made for appendix carry
since it is my favorite carry position.
Several people in the class were wearing Raven rigs
that they had picked up at the show or ordered. Everyone
loved them. IMHO these are the next big thing in holters.
Call Mike and tell him that I sent you.
