There are many forums, threads and websites dedicated to building and using BOBs AKA Bug out Bags. When BOBs come to mind I always picture a huge expensive backpack loaded with lot of expensive gear sealed in plastic with label attached. The label reads, “Use only in case of severe emergency”

Here at MCS we prefer out Bags of Evil or BOE. BOEs are filled with stuff you will use everyday instead of stuff you might need someday. We live out of these bags and they are never far from arms reach.

Depending on the mission at had the actual BOE changes but the core contents seldom vary.

- Nalgene Bottle with Camelbak top
- First Aid Kit (in Cheaper Than Dirt AP MOLLE Pouch)
- Sunglasses in Pelican 1030 Case
- Digital Camera in Pelican 1040 Case
- Hand Sanitizer
- Zippo Lighter with Butane Insert
- 100 MPH Tape
- (3) Chem Lights
- (12) Zip Ties
- 100 feet of Parachute Cord
- Dental Floss
- (10) Feet of US MIL ISSUE Booby Trap Wire
- Shemagh
- Fenix Flashlight with red filter
- (4) Spare 123A Batteries
- Sharpie Marker
- Notebook
- Index Cards
- Baby Wipes
- Cell Phone Car Charger with AC/DC Converter
- Ti Spork
- Spyderco Rescue Hook
- Stanley Wonder Bar
- Mechanics Gloves
- Thumb Drive
- Mercleash with Photon Light and Whistle attached

Whatever bag I happen to be using always has a Glow Ring attached so I can find it in low light conditions.

The First Aid Kit has a Red mercleash attached to identify it to anyone I send for it during an emergency. There is usually hard candy, Power Bars, Sunflower Seeds etc in there as well.

All bags are big enough to add mission essential items and clothing as I go out the door or for battlefield pick-ups.

This is considered 2nd line gear and has served me well in addition to my 1st line EDC gear that is always on my person.

- Wilderness Belt
- Glock 19 with spare mag / Taurus Model 85 with spare ammo
- Cell Phone
- Spyderco Military (Primary Defensive Folder)
- Al Mar SERE 2000
- Emerson Kerambit (worn reaction side reverse grip)
- Leatherman Squirt (most useful tool I own)
- Surefire L2
- Polkowski Bodyguard fixed blade

With the above I seldom need anything I don’t have. If there is something I end up needing a few times I just add it. But this has been pretty much the contents for several years whether at home or traveling.
